Turra hope Cameroon come calling for Haughs friendly
Turriff United have confirmed that they are one of many local sides in talks to bring international football to a Highland League venue this summer, as they look to host a ladies friendly match in advance of the Olympic Games.

The Cameroon Olympic team will arrive in Aberdeen on July 2, and 60 athletes across 11 different sports will be using the city's facilities to train for the London games.

Organisers are hoping to arrange a warm-up match which will allow the Cameroonian ladies football team to get crucial match practice ahead of the games, and several clubs across Aberdeenshire have been contacted with a view to hosting a game against Northern Ireland.

United are one of the sides who have been in early discussions, and secretary Gairn Ritchie confirmed to http://www.highlandleague.net/ that they are keen to bring the match to the Haughs, with the provisional date of July 8 coming one day after Dave McKenzie's testimonial match against Ross County.

Ritchie said: "Talks are still at an early stage. One of the guys involved sent us an e-mail the other day. He wants this international match to be played in Aberdeenshire, and so they have contacted several clubs in the area. They were looking at who is interested and who's ground is suitable for it, there are some teams who have dug their pitches up already ahead of the new season. But we are certainly interested.
