Weekend Preview May 10th 2008: Two finals and two SHFL clashes |
|
There are four games of note taking place this weekend connected with the Highland League sides but naturally the focus is primarily on the Fosters Scottish Highland Football League Cup Final which sees the newly crowned League champions, Cove Rangers, aiming to complete a double by defeating Inverurie Locos at Christie Park.
John Sheran's men comfortably gained the result they required last weekend and come into this game on a high with only Kevin Tindal a doubt. The club captain was forced to retire early during the 3-0 win over Lossiemouth but will be given every opportunity to play. Winger Barrie Stephen returns following a one match suspension.
The Locos boss Dave Cormie will not have too many decisions to make about which starting eleven to choose due to the number of players missing this match. Paul Jarvie is overseas with work commitments, Richie Singer is suspended and Dave McKenzie is ineligible.Danny Milne and Ally Graham are both ruled out due to injury and Roddy Mess is listed as a major doubt.
Here is what the two managers had to say as they looked ahead to the final. John Sheran: "We have had a great season so far and are looking to make it a memorable one for everyone connected with Cove Rangers by winning the Cup." Dave Cormie: "This is the opportunity for our players to gain some success from what has been a topsy turvy campaign. We have what can only be described as a skeleton squad for the final but of course I can only play 11 players at a time."
