The first real chance of the afternoon came after 23 minutes when a long free kick from Kevin Stuart was knocked along the goal line by Anthony Ross where John Urquhart clipped the ball over the bar.
The home side took the lead 2 minutes later when John Urquhart played a corner into the 6 yard box where Martin McMullen got up well to power a header beyond Ryan Hunter. On the half hour mark substitute Michael Smith beat two Fort defenders before playing the ball into the box where Ian Foggo was relieved to see the ball skip just by his own post. Martin McMullen doubled his goal tally on 31 minutes when he rounded off a really nice Lossie move. Anthony Ross released Nikki Smith with a great defence splitting ball who in turn played in McMullen who made no mistake in firing the ball beyond the young Ryan Hunter. However the Fort were back in it just one minute later when Andrew MacLean played Andy Martin in the left hand side and he slid the ball into the back of the net via Chris Stuart's fingertips and the inside of the far post. Michael Mulligan hit the crossbar on 35 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick which had Chris Stuart beaten all ends up before Michael Smith had an effort headed for the top corner well saved by Ryan Hunter. Five minutes into the first half Nikki Smith should have made it 3-1 when he slid the ball wide of the post from 12 yards when he found himself in space inside the box. Lossie did however get their third on the hour mark when Anthony Ross threw the ball into the feet of Michael Smith who did well to hold onto the ball under the pressure of Martin Kerr before knocking it back to the edge of the box for Gary McNicol to smash the ball beyond Ryan Hunter. Five minutes later Lossiemouth were awarded a corner on the left hand side and Anthony Ross delivered the ball long where Craig Donaldson rose at the back post to head the ball into the back of the net. On 72 minutes a long through ball from Michael Smith found Nikki Smith running on to lob Ryan Hunter and make up for his earlier missed opportunity. One minute later the Fort William offside trap was breached once more as Gary McNicol found himself clean through with all the time in the world but his effort could only find the feet of Ryan Hunter. With 10 minutes to go a melee broke out after a strong Simon Shields challenge on Jordan Main, playing for the Grant Park side as a trialist, somehow resulted in a free for all with arms and elbows flailing all over the shop as nearly every player on the pitch got involved. When Billy Baxter and his assistants finally got the players separated. He showed red cards to Simon Shields and Martin Kerr and a yellow to both Jordan Main and Martin McMullen. On 87 minutes substitute Sean Macintosh, who was looking very impressive in his ten minutes on the park, raced down the wing and played the ball to Nikki Smith whose effort was saved at the near post as Lossie failed to add to their nap hand.
