Early flurry of goals helps Turriff gain revenge for Haughs defeat Print
Turriff United took their recent frustrations out on Fort William firing four goals past the Claggan Park side in the first 21 minutes of this game to secure a welcome three points which lifts them above Nairn County.

It was an open game from start to finish and Fort could have had their noses in front in the 11th minute when a left footed cross by Jonathan Hewitt was flicked wide by Sean Ellis.

Two minutes later Turra were in front when Craig Morrison's cross turned into a shot, flying over the keeper and dipping into the far top corner of the net.  Turriff spung into life and Dave McKenzie rattled the crossbar with a header from six yards barely a minute later.

In the 15th minute the second goal arrived, Michael Ralton firing home through a ruck of players after a goalmouth stramasch.  Then five minutes later a corner was met by Leigh Henderson who headed home number three from 8 yards out.

It seemed to be in danger of turning into cricket score when, just a minute later, John Campbell was harshy adjudged to have brought down Leigh Henderson, picking up a yellow card for the foul.  Craig Morrison stepped up to fire home his second f the day from the penalty spot, planting it to the keeper's right.

Fort pulled one back in the 23rd minute as ref Davie Watt pointed to the other spot this time.  Ross Buchanon's foul on John Hewitt earned the goalie a yellow card and Sam Urquhart completed the symmetry of the two spot kicks by also scoring to the right of the stopper.

The scoring may have ended here but the chances kept coming and the woodwork went on to take a battering in the second forty-five.  Ten minutes before the break a mazy run from Sam Urquhart saw him deliver a cross that fell just behind the strikers before Sean Ellis made his mark on the game, firstly crossing for Hewitt to head over then striking a 30 yarder just over the bar.

The half was rounded off by Craig Morrison who fired wide from 18 yards as he went in search of a hat trick.  Early in the second half Turriff signalled their intention to score more when Grant Noble drilled in a 25 yarder which was parried by John Campbell only as far as Leigh Henderson but he rattled the rebound off the post.

Christopher Herd then struck the post from all of 30 yards while at the other end a Sam Urquhart free kick from a similar distance hit the bar on it's way over.

Incredibly the woodwork was stuck for the 5th time in the game ten minutes from the end when Grant Noble struck the post from 6 yards out.  It had been a game that could have finished 10-6.
