Broch get the job done at a canter Print
Fraserburgh cruised past Fort William at Grant Park this afternoon with two goals in each half seeing them book a home match against Clachnacuddin in the next round, scheduled for the 20th of May.

The Fort started the game well and passed up a great chance in the first few minutes and they were made to pay in the 12th minute.  A dangerous challenge for a high ball saw ref Billy Baxter award a foul in the favour of Willie West.  Dean Elrick stepped up and struck a shot goalwards which spun up off a defenders leg and landed in the back of the net.

It could have been two just four minutes later when Willie West's corner in the from left was met by the head of Jamie Beagrie 8 yards out, but his flicked header cleared the bar by a matter of inches.

Alan Hale forced a good stop out of John Campbell with a shot from just outside the area which, like Elrick's effort spun up off a defender and left Campbell scrambling to touch it over the bar.

Campbell then used his legs to deny Jonathan Garden after Jamie Beagrie created an opportunity for the on form striker.  Garden went close again from a Willie West ball in from the left and West himself passed up the first of three great opportunities to net as the Broch cranked up the pressure.

The second goal arrived in the 28th minute and it came from another set piece.  Dean Elrick crossed the ball in from the right and Neil Main's movement took him clear of his man, allowing him to turn the ball home with ease from 6 yards out.

There was little doubt that it was Fraserburgh who carried the most attacking menace although the balance of the game was not as one sided as the number of opportunities suggests.

Indeed the Claggan Parkers could have pulled a goal back just before the break when a great ball in from Sean Ellis was met at the back of the six yard box by Richard Finnis and Paul Leask did well to make the block with his legs.

Fraserburgh killed the game off seven minutes into the second half.  Alan Hale collected the ball just outside the box and drove with purpose past a couple of players before cutting the ball back to Jonathan Garden who fired it past John Campbell.

The Broch rounded off the afternoon with a supersub appearance from Robert Morrice.  The striker took less than 60 seconds to make his mark, collecting the ball on the inside left channel and advancing before drilling a low angled effort into the net from 8 yards.
