Match Summaries: Peterhead win at Huntly / Can Cans bounce to another success Print
Huntly got their preparations for the 2010/11 Highland League campaign underway this evening when they were defeated at home by SFL Division Two side Peterhead. Elsewhere, Forres Mechanics' intense schedule continued with another bounce match success.

At Christie Park, Huntly took the lead against Peterhead with half an hour gone when Jordan Timmons marked his first appearance in Black and Gold by getting his name on the score sheet with the opener.

The home side's joy was short-lived though as two goals in five minutes gave the Blue Toon a half time advantage. Graham Sharp bagged his first of the night with a low drive from the edge of the box before Martin Bavidge pounced to convert a corner from close range.

The goal that put daylight between the clubs for the first time in the night arrived with 15 minutes to go as Sharp notched his second of the evening by heading home a Daniel Moore cross and seal Peterhead's win in the second of a handful of games they will play against Highland League opposition over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, in their second bounce game in three nights, Forres Mechanics were 4-2 victors. Boss Charlie Rowley handed a debut to goalkeeper Martin Taylor between the posts and trialist Gary Tweedie did his chances of earning a permanent contract at Mosset Park no harm by bagging himself a brace. Last season's Fosters Highland League Cup final hero Matty Fraser and Tuesday night's hat trick scorer Kevin Duguid notched the other goals. Can Cans boss Charlie Rowley said:

"It was another good work out for us but it wasn't such a good overall performance as it was on Tuesday night in our other bounce game. I think that may have been down to the fitness though because after playing on Tuesday, there was a bit of a case of tired legs in the team but it was a good work out and that is the main thing at this stage."

Forres starting line up: Martin Taylor, Simon Allan, Kevin Shortreed, Graeme Grant, Nathan Sharp, Fraser Bremner, Neil Whyte, Scott Moore, Gary Tweedie (trialist), Iain Penwright, Matty Fraser.
