Buckie Thistle started the preparations for their defence of the Highland League championship with a comfortable 3-1 success over Third Division side Elgin City at Victoria Park. New signings Michael Morrison, Brian Bell and Darren Wood were all involved for the Jags while boss Gregg Carrol also gave a run out to trialist striker Andrew Gardiner who impressed as a second half substitute. Craig MacMillan put the home side in front before Zander Sutherland lashed in a second for Buckie. Craig Gunn halved the deficit from the penalty spot for Elgin after Neil Davidson had handled a David Niven effort but Lewis MacKinnon headed in Buckie's third of the night to secure the win.
