Formartine in seven heaven Print
Formartine United got their preparations for the new season underway with a thumping success away at amateur side Rothie Rovers. Barry Somers was the main hero for the visitors as they hit seven, despite being pegged back early on.

Barry Somers opened the scoring seven minutes into the game but Michael Beaton replied for the home side on the quarter-hour. However, goals from Stuart McKay and Andrew Bagshaw put Formartine back in control before half time.

The goals continued to flow after the restart with Barry Somers snatching his second of the game on 51 minutes. Scott Morrison then got in on the act two minutes later before Barry Somers rounded off his hat trick with just over 20 minutes left. It was left to Richie Singer to complete the scoring with just under 10 minutes to go.

Full time: Rothie Rovers 1 Formartine United 7
