Polworth: A lot of food for thought Print
A barnstorming start to this friendly gave Elgin City victory at the home of their old Highland League rivals Clachnacuddin. It was the perfect response to a midweek defeat at Buckie Thistle for the Black and Whites.

Jake Inglis put Elgin in front on 10 minutes before Jason Crooks made it two with just 16 minutes played. Barry Wilson then missed a penalty for the visitors before Crooks grabbed his second of the game with a spot kick on 33 minutes. Clach's trialist striker scored three minutes from time to salvage some Inverness pride. Clach boss Iain Polworth spoke to http://www.highlandleague.net/ about the match.

Iain Polworth (Clachnacuddin)
It was another decent run out for us and there was a lot of food for thought. I thought in the first half we showed them too much respect and when we did that, we stood off them. They caused us a lot of problems and they had runners coming from midfield. At half time, we had stern words even though it was just a friendly because I felt the players had let themselves down. In the second half, we were changed team and had a lot of chances. We took one but we had maybe three or four positive opportunities.

We could really have been put to the sword if we'd lied down and done nothing about being behind. We came back into in the second half though. Our trialist striker scored and he is someone we are looking to bring in. it is an ongoing process just now and there are still a few details to be ironed out. We put another few trialists on and it was a good run out so hopefully we will get another good run out against Caley Thistle on Thursday.
