Grapies all set to sign for Forres tomorrow night Print

Forres Mechanics are expected to formally complete the signing of Graeme Grant tomorrow night at Mosset Park with the player confirming that he had been given the go ahead from both clubs.

It is understood that a deal was reached between the two sides this afternoon and that the 28 year old Elgin based slater will be registered with the SFA ahead of Saturday's trip to Bellslea Park for the Scot Ads Highland League match.

Talking to http://www.highlandleague.net/ this evening Grapies revealed that he has committed to the Hoops until 2010: "I have signed a deal which runs for the remainder of this season then for the next two, so it is just over a two and a half year deal."

"They were good enough to come back in for me after I left them in the summer so I was more than happy to sign for that length of time. I spoke to Boogal (Gordon Winton) this afternoon and even though he is away this week he has been in touch regularly and it was good to be kept in the picture.

"Obviously I have not been away for that long so I know not only what Boogal and Charlie (Rowley) are all about but also there are plenty of familiar faces with Big (Ryan) Green, (Neil) Whytey and Brooner (Charlie Brown) there.

"There is a good basis to the team right there, a strong spine, and things seem to be moving in the right direction.  I watched them on Saturday and it was clear we have a team that can score goals at will, with a lot of good attackers but we need to shore up the defence a wee bit.  Obviously if Nathan Sharp was to arrive as well that would be a big boost as he is a quality player but I am not sure how that is going."

Looking back at the past six months or so Grant admitted that he was glad to have returned to Mosset Park although he believes that he had to take the opportunity which was placed in front of him.

"I did kind of feel guilty when I left but I thought at that time I would go to a club and challenge for honours but it didn't work out that way.  It is just part and parcel of the game that people have different ideas but you live and learn.  I don't think I would have any problems with anyone at the Huntly and will enjoy a beer with them when they come to first foot us in January.  I was delighted for the boys when I heard the result on Saturday although I was through watching the Mechanics against Cove.

"As I said before the basis of the team at Forres is still strong and things are working in the right direction.  We are building for the future so who is to say we won't be winning things here.

"It is a good, well run club with a solid committee and a good backroom staff so I am looking forward to it once again and I am sure I will soon be enjoying my football and hopefully helping Forres climb the table."
