| Wayne wins it for Keith who progress into round 3 |

Keith made it into the third round of the Scottish Cup for the sixth time in their history and for the first time since they drew Rangers at Pittodrie in 1996. The big guns don't come into the draw until the fourth round nowadays but the Maroons won't worry about that just yet.
Martin Allan's men had Wayne Mackay to thank for his first goals of the season with a superb double to hand Vale their first defeat of the season. However it was a hardfought win despite the Maroons going ahead in the fifth minute. Keith opened the scoring when Wayne Mackay rifled home from 18 yards after a neat lay off from Cammy Keith. A rout looked on the cards at this stage but the game settled down to become more evenly balanced. The home side were boosted by a 26th minute leveller with speedy winger Andy Martin racing in unchallenged from the right wing before cutting the ball inside, leaving Graham Lonie floundering and the unmarked Aaron Summerville to slot home. There was little between the teams in the latter stages of the first half with little sign of any further breakthroughs. After the break Keith battled their way back into the lead when Wayne Mackay curled a beauty of a free kick into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area. Midfield dynamo Mackay was beginning to take charge as Keith took control. Jamie Lennox raced up the right wing and cut the ball inside to supersub Gary Harris who slammed home at the back post from 10 yards out. His seventh goal of the season sealed the win and ensured Keith's passage into the third round draw this coming Wednesday. The game ended on a sour note with home pivot John Hall receiving a straight red card in the dying seconds for crashing into Keith keeper Andy Shearer.
