A goal in each half does the trick for Lossie Print
Both teams were in search of their second win in a row as they went head to head at Grant Park but it was Lossie who were celebrating at full time as they moved above Brora and closed the gap on Clach with another three points.

An early chance came for the home side when a Nikki Smith ball was met inside the box by Shawn Scott on the 5th minute, he tried to slot the ball past the keeper but his decent effort ended up going past the post.
Rothes had a chance to take the lead on the 16th minute, a corner taken by Kevin Shortreed went right across the face of goal, however the players in the box failed to get the final touch to tap it in.
The opening goal came for Lossie on the 25th minute; Shawn Scott passed a ball back to Nikki Smith about 25 yards out. His powerful shot took a deflection of a Rothes defender and went flying into the air, unlucky for the visitors Kevin Flett was there to meet it as it came down and headed it past keeper Willie Ridgers.

Rothes had a chance to get a goal back just 5 minutes later, a free kick taken by Scott Robison gave Lewis Duguid a heading opportunity, his attempt hit off the Lossie post. Lossie could have doubled their lead just 10 minutes from half time, a long ball from Nikki Smith was met by the run of Shawn Scott. His strong shot on target forced a great save from Willie Ridgers.

Just 3 minutes after the break Rothes were down to 10 men after Kevin Shortreed received his second yellow of the game after a wreckless challenge on Sean McIntosh.

On the 68th minute another chance came for the home team Martin McMullan made a solo run from the half way line until he got to 20 yards out. He took his shot which bounced off the post before being grabbed by the keeper to prevent anyone coming in on the rebound. Both teams were down to 10 men on the 70th minute when Lossie's Kevin Flett received a red card for a harsh challenge.

Lossie doubled their lead 5 minutes from full time when Sean McIntosh passed the ball to Shawn Scott, this left him a one on one opportunity with the keeper which he took full advantage of by calmly slotting it past Willie Ridgers. Late drama resulted in the home side going down to 9 men when Martin McMullan received a straight red after a careless challenge from behind in the closing minutes.

Lossie are away to 2nd place Cove Rangers where as Rothes have a home tie against top side Deveronvale and both will be hoping to catch their opposition unawares as the top two will have one eye on the Scottish Cup 3rd round games a week later.

Full Time: Lossiemouth 2 Rothes 0
