Buckie managed to secure another three points in a closely fought game with Wick Academy at Victoria Park. Second half substitute Martin Charlesworth got the only goal of the game for the league leaders. The first chance of the game fell to Craig MacMillan who glanced a header from a Zander Sutherland cross past advancing the keeper but it also beat the far post. 10 minutes later and Zander Sutherland showed a great bit of skill when he received the ball at 40 yards and dribbled to outside the 18yard box, beating 2 players along his way but could only slip an off balance shot into Alan Bokas's waiting hands. Kris Angus made a similar move on 33 minutes in when he began a run from inside his own half to the Wick penalty area here he turned Craig Shearer before putting a left foot shot well wide of the near post. Buckie continued to look the more likely to open the scoring and they won a corner a minute later which was delivered short from the left by Zander Sutherland to Bob Duncan. He laid it back to Sutherland who crossed into the box from the edge of the area to Donnie Munro at 6 yards whose header went just over the crossbar. Wick had their first clear chance 5 minutes after this when Richard MacAdie played a 1 - 2 with David Allan which allowed Allan to fire a shot a goal from 10 yards which was blocked by the legs of Darren Strong. Wick had the best opportunity of the half 1 minute later when David Allan and Richard MacAdie again ,linked up this time having Allan slide a ball through the area from the left channel to MacAdie who was left with an open goal at 6 yards and rifled his shot over the cross bar. Half Time: Buckie 0-0 Wick Zander Sutherland again got the first opportunity of the half 10 minutes in when his shot from the edge of the 18 yard box was saved but spilled by Alan Bokas, and cleared away by the defence. Three minutes later and Wick were awarded a free kick 20 yards from goal. Gary Manson stepped up to take it and the full backs effort went inches wide of the right hand post. Martin Charlesworth and Charlie Brown were introduced to the game just after the hour mark, a decision which would prove to have a massive effect on the game. Charlie Brown was the man who put a low cross into the box 75 minutes in which came to the feet of Martin Charlesworth who at 12 yards who turned and curled a beautiful shot past Alan Bokas and into the far right hand corner of the net. Buckie's eventual victory was somewhat spoiled as the Jags lost midfielder Graeme Stewart five minutes from time when he was shown a second yellow for a reckless challenge. Importantly this was another three big points for the Jags who remain clear at the top of the SHFL table.
