Vale keep the pressure on while Forres drift away Print
Deveronvale carried on from the positive finish to the Nairn game by putting two goals past Forres in the first half to maintain their position in the top five, opening up a clear gap between themselves and the chasing pack in the process.

The Vale took the lead in the 5th minute through a trademark Mike McKenzie free kick.  Mark Smith was fouled 20 yards from goal and that allowed McKenzie to send a low effort from dead centre into the bottom corner past Ross Harkness.

Ricky Wardrop could have had Forres level within 60 seconds but he dragged his 14 yard effort across the goal and wide of the far post. McKenzie almost doubled the advantage with another free kick, this time from 25 yards but Harkness made the save.  This only delayed the second home goal of the game.

24 minutes in and Mark Smith got to the byeline wide on the right and crossed for Stephen Gauld who turned the ball into the net from 6 yards out.  Forres finished the half well, having good spell 10 minutes before the interval but Ross McPherson's 18 yard shot from the edge of the box which just went wide was as close as they came to pulling a goal back.

Half Time Deveronvale 2 Forres Mechanics 0

Forres started the second half well with Kyle Scott heading wide three minutes after the restart then Simon Allan shot over from 20 yards as Forres looked to pull a goal back.

However disaster struck in the 56th minute when Gary Youngson, standing wide on the left 30 yards from goal he rolled the ball back to keeper Harkness who lifted his foot and allowed the ball to trundle under it ending up in the back of the net, making it 3-0.

Graeme Watt scored from a free kick taken from way out on the right wing next to the corner flag, which curled high over Ross Harkness but ref McNab gave a foul for a push in the box and disallowed what looked like a good goal

Forres had few chances, the best coming sixteen minutes from time when Ricky Wardrop ran clear of the Vale defence but James Blanchard blocked well with his legs as the striker let fly from 12 yards.

Full Time: Deveronvale 3 Forres Mechanics 0
