Dave Cormie resigns but the Board give him their support Print
Dave Cormie has offered Inverurie Loco Works his resignation following his side's 3-1 defeat at the hands of Rothes tonight, however club Chairman Willie Lippe has came out to confirm that the committee has rebuffed the resignation and are keen to reiterate their support for the current supremo.

In an expansive interview which will go live in the morning Cormie points towards a lack of support from senior players at the club as being his reason behind the resignation and cites the run of results which has seen them slide out of the top half of the table as demonstrating that key players are not playing for him.

The full interview can be heard via the panel below and has been typed up for those who cannot access the audio feature at work.  Look out for the response of Chairman Willie Lippe later in the day.

Dave Cormie Interview:

"I've got the support of the Chairman and the Board here and quite a few fans as well. There are plenty fans not happy and rightly so, that things haven't gone well here. The people I don't have the support from are the senior players, without the support of senior players, no Manager, definitely not myself anyway, can get the best out of this side

I have tendered my resination and for Dave Cormie I hope Chairman Willie Lippe accepts it. I feel I've done a really good job here but there are two or three players here who I think SHOULD BE at the club. They need to get a Manager they want to play for

It would be easy(to remove these players), it it is the way I normally work(to change the situation)but these players ARE Inverurie Loco Works players , without going into names it wouldn't be hard to make a list. Can I just say though that Steven Park was exceptional tonight, Steven has backed me to the hilt since I came here and played out of his skins

But there are Locos players, real Locos players I feel should be at this club, the majority of them are on quite lengthy contracts and  I don't think they should be looking to break those contracts. I feel the club should have them here.

I enjoy my football and I'm a fitba man, I'm proud of having three trophies since I came here, three years ago. I think it's seven trophies Locos have won in their time in the Highland League, well I've won three of them, the team under me has won three of them

Two Scottish Cup runs, a wealth of youth on the doorstep, we've married into (a formal partnesrship) with Colony Park Football Club. Hopefully if I'm allowed I'd like to help with the progression of Inverurie football. But it's more important to have a unified dressing room. It's been evident the last two monthsthere hasn't been that

One thing I've learned over the years is that if you're beaten as a team, you have to accept it. Rothes were better than us tonight, I can accept that, but what I cannot accept is players not wanting to play for me

This is not a kneejerk reaction. This comes from a Manager that struggled to get more than seven signed players up to Wick on Sunday to represent this great football club that's over 100 years old. Dave Cormie is not nearly as important as Inverurie Loco Works FC and never will be, doesn't want to be. I feel for the fans. I'm a Locos fan, I couldn't stand and watch what I've been watching the last two months

I really am embarrassed to see the lack of support for the young players we've taken in.  That's for other people to look at themselves and see if they could have done more. To see the likes of Gregg Watson, Scott McIntosh, Jamie Michie come in here, what I think will be very good Highland League players, very good Locos players. People have other things on their mind, to be a successful football club you need to have the dressing room as one.

The only way that this can ever be sorted is if the senior players WANT To play for Davie Cormie, they don't. I asked them face to face. There are are quite a few people will have run ins with me because I'm an in your face type of man, what you get back from me is truth, especially in football. If I ask somebody if they want to play for me or not, they cannot give me a definite yes, I'm the wrong man for the job

I'm not under contract at this club, never have been, I've done the professional thing and completed the season. I have a number of things to tie up on the Youth Development front regarding meetings with Colony. I want to sit down and see who will stay on board here, this club means an awful lot to me, I'm proudto be Locos Manager but will not have the club in detrimental effect just because I stay in the job

I probably speak for every SHFL Manager we don't really need these  jobs, we all have full time jobs. The Highland League is fantastic, meet some great people but the Manager is the first person that gets held to task for results. 6 points from 36 I'm very fortunate the Chairman hasn't sacked me, however I could speak my way through the Chairman. What I cannot talk my way through is if I don't have the respect of the senior players.

I thought the fans were in good voice, good banter with the Rothes fans, but people are paying good money to watch that. Whoever is coming in has to do better than 6 out of 36, it's disgraceful. Our results and performances since Xmas have been nothing short of disgraceful and I'm in charge of that. I'm in charge of coaching staff, players, discipline(and that's been abysmal).

When I turned up here the story was it wasn't good enough well three years later it still isn't good enough. So it needs to be somebody who will make it good for these players, the Locos dressing room is full of people I respect as people, but I've lost affair bit of respect for some people who don't care as much as I do

Any Manager coming in just has to do what I've done, go out and win trophies. I'm quite happy we've done a job here, but at the moment we're so bad, the nucleus  of the dressing room don't want me and presumably my Management team to be running them. The question was asked and the retort was negative, it doesn't take a Chairman to sack me it takes a dressing room to sack me."

As this open interview includes a series of questions from Dave Edwards it has been held back until 9am,
