John Teasdale has been one of the busiest Highland League managers in the summer transfer market as he prepares for his first full season in charge of Huntly. The Black and Golds begin the 2010/11 campaign away at Rothes. The Speysiders saw their HITS North of Scotland Cup hopes ended at the first hurdle as they were defeated 3-1 at home by Forres Mechanics but having finished last season strongly, they have plenty of reasons to be hopeful ahead of Graham McBeath's first full campaign back at MacKessack Park. McBeath said: "John has his own players in at Huntly now and I saw him at the game in midweek. I don't know if we gave him anything to ponder but we will learn from that game and can improve and defend better then we will give ourselves a chance of winning the game. John has brought freshness into Huntly and with his past record, he will be drumming it into his players that he will want 100 percent and to get off to a good start with three points. We want that as well with it being a home game and we cannot ask for more." The hosts are without Barry Massie after he suffered a suspected broken nose during Wednesday night's defeat to Forres but Iain Macrae, Sean McIntosh and Joe Gerry are all back in contention having missed the midweek match as they were all away. Former Rothes defenders Donald Horsburgh and Michael Dunn are among the new additions along with David Angus, Jordan Timmons, Graham Stark, John Murray and Adam Naismith. Teasdale now thinks he has the squad to challenge for the championship this year. He said: "We are looking forward to the game. We had our last night of training on Thursday and fingers crossed, we seem to injury-free. We have come out of pre-season with a bit of luck with regards to injury although we have a small squad as it is but everybody should be available for selection about from the long term absentees and the suspensions. "We are raring to go and Rothes came in with a great run towards the end of last season. I am sure they will be looking to keep that up and start the new season in the same way they finished last season. My concern is my team though and I have never really been one to be concerned with other teams. I am interested in getting my boys up for the game and making sure they are all ready from the first whistle. "You have to be optimistic and confident and I am quietly confident and very happy with my squad of players. I am very, very happy with what we have brought back into the squad and the players that were already at the club are happy with what we have brought in. We have a great bunch of players now and we are ready to go but the proof will be in the pudding." Defender Michael Dunn was brought in from Elgin City earlier in the week but he will miss out against his former club because of a suspensions. The left-sided Ross McKenzie is still sidelined with a back problem. Referee: Graham Beaton |
